A nice little sleep in today. I got up and made some sausage and egg (plus cheese, onions and mushrooms) McMuffins which were pretty tasty. While Sherry got ready I watched some weird Sandra Buloc movie, which also had Strider from Lord of the Rings, where she was in a rehab centre.
We headed off to wine country around 12.30. Our first stop was abou 20 miles away from home - almost at Solvang. I didnt really know what I was doing when I walked in, but we ended up paying 10 bucks each to taste 7 wines. It was overly crowded in tehere, mostly because a party group for a girl's birthday were here. Sherry heard a girl say 'birthday girl coming through!!' as she pushed her way to the front, probably even brushing aside strangers she didnt even know. They were a pretty loud group and kind of spoilt the tasting a bit. The dessert wine we both tasted last was very nice. Looking at the tasting notes i couldn't help but think of Peter Keeghan from Monash Berwick. We were allowed to keep our glasses which was a nice touch.
We then headed to another winery, but by this stagee were getting hungry so we grabbed the listing and went off in search of food. The GPS led us right into Solvang so we pulled over and ate at a place called the English Mustard Restarurant.I don't know what was put in thefood but I was feelng rather mellow afterwards. Feeling mellow after merlaut. he rich gravy, the chicken soup, the tripdophan in the turkey. Who knows? But we shared all our meals - a chicken rice soup, turkey, ham toasted sandwhich (with stawberry jam) and a mixed danish dish of sausages and meatloaf. THE MEATLOAF!! WE WANT IT NOW.
After a good hour and a bit relaxing at the restaurant we headed off in search of another winery. We went of course a bit but we found a really nice winery which more than made up for the first one. Actually, we had firstly returned to the 2nd vineyard but it was now closed for a wedding, and the one next door had the black stretch hummer out the front - the same car that was parked outside the first vineyard know doubt transporting the rowdy's around.
We got some great service and both had different tastings. I lso managed to have a snifter of port at the end of mine. Really good so purchased a bottle.
I played two games of TV Sports Basketball tonight. Firstly coming back from 11 points down to beat Washington by 4 points 101-97. I then smashed Green Bay by about 35. I know I scored 122 - with Paul Pierce gettin my top score for the season with a 33 point outing.
Tonight we also watched both the Men in Black movies (Go the Noisy Cricket), and then 'Stranger than Fiction', a really captivating eccentric movie starring Will Ferrell, Dustin Hoffman and Maggie Someoneorother (she played the new and improved Katie Holmes character in The Dark Knight).
