7th Anniversary

Sherry and I had a really nice day today. First off we cooked a nice fajitas/skillet breakfast with sausages, bacon, eggs, peppers, onion, tomato and cheese. Sherry also watched her favourite programs - shows on serial killars and weirdos, I thought we'd change it to something slightly mroe palatable while we ate 'Worst Tornadoes in American History'.

We then thought we'd head out and after tossing up between the Museum of Natural History, a drive to Oxnard, Outlet Shopping and the Gallery we chose to go to the Museum of Natural History as neither of us had been there.

It was pretty quiet in there, first thing we saw was a red-tail hawk and a smaller hawk. The hawk was blind in one eye and both were poor flyers. The guy holding th hawk told us that we probably saw a Californian Condor at the Grand Canyon. Looking back and remembering the size of the bird he is right.

We then checked out each section of the museum. First off was the insect section. In here they had a cool sound thingy which played the sounds of crickets, secatas etc. Also a rattle snake.

Tule Elk - 1849 500,000 roamed Sacramento Valley but 21 years later they were almost extinct due to hunting and agricultural development

Pronghorn Antelope

Mule Deer - can run at 35 mph in short bursts

The Charlotte Bobcats. No wonder they don't win.

We then checked out the mammal section. There was heaps of cool stuff in here. All the mammals are or were native to the area so we saw heaps of cool stuff you wouldn't see in Australia.

The Black Bear - found in Californian mountains and in children's beds.

Mountain Lion

Grey Fox

Grey wolf - extinct in California. Endangered in U.S

Grizzly Bear

Then next was the bird area. It would have been good to go slow and read about each species and their habitat, feeding etc but we didnt have that much time.

The bald eagle. America chose a predatory animal for their coat of arms. Watch out world.

The Californian Condor - we saw one of these at the Grand Canyon - In Arizona.

Then was a quick walk through a restoration gallery. They showed the before and after shots of the art. Very cool that art can be preserved and restored.

Next was the Plane_arium which was a quick 1 minute job. Very lame. Well the only cool thing was one of those blue electricity circles where you could put your hand and the energy was drawn to it.

Then on to Indian/Chumash area and then Geology area which featured some cool fossils and some young loud kids that I wish were fossils.

After that was the Marine area which was a bit disappointing. the coolest things were the underwater topography map and the pier scene.

Then into the Spanish 'Celebrate the Dead' secion - which Sherry was keen to see. I'm wondering if I should be worried about her. It was pretty funny though.

Yep thats right - When you get married your life is over

And that was that for the Musuem of Natural History- out we walked. On the way out a dark bluew Ferrari with the top down came around the corner and burned off.

We then drove down to Stern's Wharf. I jumped out early so I could get a penny squashed at the Sea Centre. I had a bit of a chat to he guy behind the counter who I chatted to the last time I was there. Then I walked up to the Wine Bar. Sherry was already at the top.

They had a pretty decent 4th rate band playing, s we sat there and listened to the music. I wanted to ask them what time The Beatles 'Ticket to Ride' is played in, because it definetely isn't 4/4 time. There was also a cool dog sitting with 2 ladies next to us. Was a browny orange colour - sort of like Rimmer but with floppy Whymarana ears.

Sherry drunk a chardonay while I drank 2 Samuel Jacksons. I couldn't help but think of 'The Deposit Bottle Scheme' Episode when I looked at the recycling values on the bottle. 10 cents in Michigan.

Its MY BEER!!

At about 5.30pm we drove down past the harbour to Shoreline. We couldn't get a seat outside but we still got a nice view of the beach. We ate so,e casadia, clam chowder and for mains we both had tacos. FIsh tacos were good but I would have liked more fish.

We then went for a stroll along the beach. The twilight sky was pretty and we both had fun pushing each other in to get each others feet wet. I also threatened to pick up a big clump of seaweed. I dont know what I stepped on when we walked back on the path - but it was wet.

Next up was some dessert. We walked thruogh one of the Paseos before stoppping at Andersons. We had coffees and cake. Too rich.

At home I watched the last quarter of the Cardinals Giants game. Eli Manning made some great 3rd and long passes to keep the Giants in it. Some poor routes by the young Giant receivers didn't help their cause - as was a big fumble on what would have been a first down in Arizona territory with a chance to tie the game. At the 2 minute warning the Giants were at midfield down by 7.

Eli Manning threw a bad pass on a fairly obvious route. he threw into double coverage basically, going for long yards instead of an open tight end play. What do you do though with 1:20 remaining down by 7? Pass picked off and Cardinals could then just kneel it out. for their 3rd straight win on the road - the first time they'd done that since 1987. They also have a pretty good schedule over the next few weeks. The Giants are not looking good after going undefeated 5-0 now face the Eagles in Phily next week looking to prevent their 3rd straight loss.

Thank you Sherry for a great 7 years
Even though sometimes there are tears
And i dont hear because of mishaped ears
pretty silly after lots of beers
When im with you i have no fears

So here's to us and here's to them
And if anyone shall condemn
Then bugger them with a mouthful of phlem

Cheers Baby. Love always. Murray xxoo
