We got up at a decent enough time to wander out and grab some breakfast. We ended up eating at another hotel just around the corner. We then saddled up and headed out to the airport as we were now on to San Jose. Woohoo!
The pilot of the plane knew the way to San Jose which was good. i was tempted to ask him before take off 'Do you know the way to San Jose?' Wow wowwow wow wow wow wow....wow. Do dodo. San Jose seemed to have weay more water than what i expected it to. It was like they had heaps of cool speedboat tracks around the place. Not the case.
San Jose airport was being totally re-done so we had to catch a shuttle bus out to the carpark. The whole carpark building directly opposite the terminals was being re-done. Full building site action. We ended up being fixed up with a black jeep for our San Jose/San Francisco leg. I asked 'Is the tank full?', so we get in it and its 3/4 full. That sucks when you are paying for that empty tank already.
Driving around San Jose reminded me of being in Ballarat or Echuca. Just seemed like a large country town basically. For lunch we wanted to grab some chinese in downtown chinatown. But there version of Chinatown was really ordinary. It was like being in an Echuca crossed with Springvale area. Everything was shut too. We found a small deli and ate there. They had an original coke machine there which was cool.
We then checked into the hotel which was pretty much next door to the Sharks Arena. We hung out there for a while before heading over to Blair and Tim's for pre-game pizza and drinks. Blair and Tim were the people we met at the Grand Canyon. Before heading over we stopped off at a pharmacy for some beer. It's great how you can go to a pharmacy and buy beer. When California legalises marijuana does that mean that at the pharmacy you'll be able to buy weed, bongs, anti-dpressants and munchies all in one survival kit?
We had a blast with Blair and Tim. It was great just to crap on about normal stuff and just hang with people. Tim and I got into the jack daniels shots as well as some beers. They've got three dogs in the garage - a rotweiler (i'm scared of them - they just seem to have a history of biting people's faces off.) They've also got cats as well.
Tim was cool playing the role of host to San Jose. He's a cop by day/ or by nght i guess - but showed me some local landmarks. He also had a pretty impressive gun collection. Being a cop you're allowed to have them I guess. The only thing i didn't see that he had was a gatling gun - disappointing Tim. He's got a couple of nice cars - a really old chevy that he tinkers with - it's got a massive block in it. He's also got a large truck for day use - with heated seats. Good times. It feels like you've wet your pants when the seats warm up.
We ended up living their house just after midnight. We needed to be up early as we were driving to San Francisco in the morning. Awesome night/ Tim and Blair were awesome and we can't thank them enough for showing us a good time. Hopefully we can return the favour sometime or maybe we'll visit them again sometime in a few years.
