AMERICA the 1st

DAY ONE - 23rd October 2008 Well today's the day! I finished up work at JB last week and i've had 5 days to get ready. And I AM ready. Its Thursday morning and I had a decent sleep all things considered. Roughly 5 and a half hours for an early 6 AM start. Uncle John came along as well which was nice. I drove his car in and had SEN going on the radio. No major concerns on the way which meant no traffic, no emergency return from Echuca toilet stops. I'm on the runway now. In a massive Qantas 747. This plane feels like a hotel compared to the other planes i've been on. Ok here we go. Engines. ENGAGE! See you later Australia! Lunch was small but nice at the same time. Hahah I had a can of lemonade that I spilled, coke, tea and water. Also a lime split ice-cream. Does my diary say coke or cake? I hope it says cake because it looks like all i've written about is the drinks! The lunch must have been really small!. I'd forgotten about the spilt lemonade Typically the best thing about the plane ride to america (I wouldn't know but i'd been informed by Sherry) are the movies and TV shows you can watch. I put in a decent effort. I watched
  • a bit of Arj Barker (was so-so)
  • Hancock (3 stars) was different. watchable but not a great
  • Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull - i fell asleep for at least an hour in this. So know idea
  • Summer Heights High - a couple of episodes. Good stuff. He's a RANGA sir
  • IRONMAN - great movie.

On the map it looks like is dark in South Australia.

  • Outside the Air temperature is -48 degrees!!
  • We are doing 926 km/h
  • at an altidude of 11.27 km
  • We've Been in the air for 9 hours

It's 2.49 AM U.S time, which is 8.49pm AEST. I can't believe I'm on a plane only 5 hours away from being in America and seeing Sherry.

I've started to get a bit of a headache as the ladies in front of me never turned off their reading lights. Luckily I've had some sleep as I have a whole 3 seats to myself. Better than 1st Class.

Cabin lights are on. Breakfast time. Should see the sun soon. A long night on the plane.
