Apparantely this guy was anti-Obama.
When Sherry got home i was obviously relieved, but we went out for dniner anyway. We tried Black Sambo's but it was shut so we ended up at the California Pizzaria. The food was great. We shared brusschetta. I had a chicken and corn chowder, Sherry had a Waldorf salad, and i also had a Works pizza. We then walked over to Borders and also Barnes & nNoble to look at travel guides for Boston and New York.
Tuesday I had a ncie sleep in and only got up a little before Sherry came home for lunch. I had a frzzoen dinner - steak in mushroom sauce with beans and spuds.
Sherry then dropped me off at Borders. I checked out the Sports books. They had a cool Sidney Crosby book and obviously a massive range compared to Australia in respect to NBA, NHL, baseball and NFL. I ended up buying 6 basketball books. 2 Jordan books, 1 on when he was in his prime, the 2nd about his decline in Washington. '7 Seconds or Less' about the Phoenix Suns ni 2005-06 (have read it all - good book - more about the playoffs than the whole season). A Charels Barkley book (have read it all - more about his opinions on current affairs - he has some smart things to say, but he is still only talking about things from his perspective and what he has experienced - but what else can you expect?). Also a book on Larry Bird.
We ate Thai that night. It was awesome and cheap. I had Tom Kai Gong (coconut soup with mushrooms and shrimps) and a yellow curry with potatoes. Sherry ordered some chili flat noodles and geez it was hot! One thing i have learned over here after bloody mary's, mexican and this is that Americans have a big tolerance to chili. Maybe my ability to eat hot food has decreased due to not smoking?
There were a fair few singles here. Next to us there was a pretty girl out on a date. At first she was there by herself waiting. Then two guys came in and sat with her. One guy must have been the mutual friend responsible for the setup. I don;t think the date went well though because the other guy left before the friend.
Tuesday night we booked our flights and watched the election results. It became clear that Obama would win, so John McCann gave his speech. He was truly humble and respectful in defeat. He would have been a good leader - if only he'd chosen a better running mate. Sarah Palin it could be argued lost him the election.
Wow! What a moment when Barak Obama came out. Oprah Winfrey in the crowd, people crying. A true turning point for America that everyone can be truly proud of. It was amazing to be in America when history was made. It really did feel special. Congratulations to the first Afro-American President elect and congratulations to the U.S.A for casting aside any racial prejudice that has plagued America and Australia for so long.
